Paytm, Jugnoo join hands to help Delhi embrace Odd/Even rule

With the Odd-Even rule being implemented in the Capital starting 1st January, Jugnoo, the auto-rickshaw aggregator joins forces with Paytm to bring respite to citizens of Delhi.

This collaboration brings an exciting offer of 100% Cash Back on first Jugnoo ride followed by offers on subsequent rides for transactions done using Paytm Wallet. The aim of the campaign is to make it easier for the “aam aadmi” to comply to this rule. In addition, Jugnoo, having been present in the Capital for 4 months now, goes on to increase its already existing fleet of around 1500 drivers to ensure consistent supply to the citizens. Both players will augment each other’s efforts to mutually build a strong supply to keep up with the expected increase in demand.

Even though the 15 day pilot has garnered mixed responses from Delhiites, Jugnoo is in support of this initiative, adding to which Samar Singla, CEO and Founder, adds “ Given that Delhi’s pollution has gone up 7-fold in just a few months, we hope that such measures play a vital role in curbing these levels. While the common man’s daily activities get immensely affected with the Odd-Even mandate, our aim is to make it easier for them to accept this rule with minimum impact on their day to day lives.”

Operationally, Jugnoo is also concentrating its supply at all major metro stations to provide last mile connectivity to the commuters. “Metro is the backbone of Delhi’s transport infrastructure, however getting to or from the metro station is still an area which is hugely unorganized. Jugnoo’s on-demand offering and app based booking system allows the user to not worry about this anymore”, adds Samar.

Speaking on this initiative, Kiran Vasireddy, Sr. Vice President, Paytm said “Paytm’s strategic association with Jugnoo will motivate the commuters to leave their private vehicles and opt for alternatives. This initiative has the potential to reduce the pollution levels & congestion on Delhi roads and we are hoping that our synergy brings comfort to the commuters thereby increasing the utilization of public transport”.

Jugnoo, while already providing the cheapest means of local commute all over, looks at this as an opportunity to encourage commuters to contribute to the initiative by making the adjustment for them economical and convenient.

Paytm backed Jugnoo has scaled to around 24k daily transactions in a year and has established strong presence in 22 cities of India aiming for further pan-India expansion. Even with the recent development of Uber withdrawing auto-services, Jugnoo has been able to sustain this domain and continues to build more on its on-demand platform.
