Siemens Limited and Siemens Rail Automation Ltd. S.A.U Spain have jointly won an order worth Rs. 287 crore, out of which Siemens Limited’s share is Rs. 146 crore (all inclusive). Siemens is to supply state-of-the-art signaling technology for the first two metro lines of the Nagpur Metro i.e. the North-South and the East-West Corridors. The project comprises the deployment and installation of the Siemens communications-based train control (CBTC) solution Trainguard MT for 38.2 kilometers of double track with 36 stations and two depots, as well as onboard equipment for 23 three-cars trains.

Cities drive the economic growth of every nation. With only 31% of India's population currently urbanized and constituting 63% of India's GDP (up from 45% in 1990), urban sections of the society have clearly been the key engine of growth acceleration in the past decade. And with the initiatives of the current Indian government such as Digital India, these sections are now becoming highly advanced in terms of overall infrastructure, sustainable real estate and communications. The urban regions in India are hence being expected to contribute 70-75% of its GDP by 2020, Barclays said in a report.

During the next two decades, nearly half the jobs in the United States alone might become obsolete due to automation, according to an article in The Atlantic. But new opportunities will arise, particularly ones that require strong cognitive and social skills. As David J. Deming, associate professor of education and economics at Harvard, put it: People will have to become more human.
