Finally SAP supports and certifies Oracle Database 12c and Oracle Database In-Memory

Oracle announced Oracle Database In-Memory has been certified by SAP for use with SAP solutions based on the SAP NetWeaver 7.x technology platform. Customers can use SAP applications together with Oracle Database In-Memory to perform real-time data analytics together with real-time transaction processing on their existing applications, by adding SAP tables into the in-memory column store. This continues the longstanding collaboration between Oracle and SAP to meet the demand from customers to run SAP software together with Oracle technologies. Earlier this year, SAP certified Oracle Database 12c, Oracle Exadata Database Machine X5-2, and Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud X5-2 for use with SAP solutions.

SAP HANA Named a Leader Among In-Memory Database Platforms by a research firm

SAP announced the company has been recognized as a leader among in-memory database platforms by Forrester Research, Inc. in a new report titled “The Forrester Wave™: In-Memory Database Platforms, Q3 2015” (August 2015). SAP was among a group of 11 select vendors that Forrester invited to participate in the independent report. The SAP HANA platform was positioned highest in the two of the three core categories Forrester used to evaluate vendors - current offering and strategy, and among the highest in the third category, market presence. SAP also achieved the highest scores among all vendors in 3 criteria, and among the highest scores in 10 criteria.

India's Database market heats up

Universal fact is that big data is really big and will stay, influencing market dynamics in the enterprise sector. Looking at the growing market for data storage and data management needs, several vendors such as Oracle, SAP, Microsoft, etc have left no stone unturned to grab market share. Surely Oracle holds the 65 percent database market in India. However, the opportunity is so big that even the smallest vendors are putting in their best to gain footing in the subcontinent.
