But it is surprising that a bunch of petty websites which like Tehlaka have gained reputation through their unwarranted Sting Operations are trying to target certain political groups. Cobrapost and Gulail.com seem after only one political group to target. They are leaving no stone unturned to target a few leaders through their sting operations. They have conducted different sting operations which have no basis.

It is very important that the government or the election commission takes cognizance of this and stop them from the sting operations.

Increase Revenue by 25% or More by Using Big Data

Hitachi Data Systems Corporation (HDS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd, announced research results revealing that almost half of the firms surveyed in Asia Pacific believe that big data can improve revenue by 25% or more, with HDS projecting a potential US$250 billion revenue increase among the more than 500 companies surveyed. However, more than half of firms have made little or no progress in their big data strategies.

Top 50 Indian Enterprises Aggressive on IT Investments

Zinnov announced the release of its latest study titled, Opportunities with Large Enterprises in India, which highlights IT investment and trends among the largest Indian corporations. The released study revealed flat Capex but steady IT investments in FY2013, with over 30% of IT spend aimed at transformational projects, especially in the areas of mobility, cloud and big data.

The top 50 Indian companies - selected on the basis of total annual income excluding IT companies - demonstrated growth at a CAGR of 12% in INR terms despite economic challenges in FY13, even though revenues declined marginally by 1% in USD terms. Interestingly, 10% of the top 50 are headquartered outside the Tier 1 cities, in emerging locations such as Indore, Jamnagar and Dehradun. Oil & Gas was the only sector that made significant capex investments, while this remained flat or declined for other industries in the top 50 such as metals and mining, BFSI, telecom and power.

11-25% rise in India's 2013 organizational learning budgets over 2011: Skillsoft


Skillsof released findings of its survey titled ‘Learning and Development Trends in Asia Pacific’, which provides key insights on learning across organizations in the region, including India. Indian companies surveyed across 20 sectors, cumulatively reported that their organizational budgets over the last two years had increased compared to the tightening of budgets across the rest of the Asia Pacific region. 74% of respondents reported that skills gained from learning programs had a direct positive impact on their work performance; while 81% were able to effectively apply the skills gained from these.

CEO Vemuri drives restructuring at iGate

iGates has begun to review into its structure. Under its new CEO Ashok Vemuri the company has undertaken a significant organizational restructuring which will give greater responsibility to managers and make them more accountable. In addition, the company has also refinanced about half of its over $750 million loan which it had taken to acquire Patni Computer at a substantially lower interest rate. 

India PC Market Slumps By 8.3% In Q3 2013, according to IDC

The overall India PC shipments for Q3 2013 stood at 3.24 million units i.e. a year-on-year growth of 8.4% over Q3 2012 and a quarter-on-quarter slide of about -8.3% over Q2 2013. Uptake on commercial volumes owing to fulfilments around large education projects, has led to the contribution of this segment to rise to around 59% against their share of nearly 50% seen a year ago.

According to Kiran Kumar, Research Manager at IDC, “Special education projects in states like UP & Tamil Nadu and a much delayed spending in the year from the BFSI segment have largely skewed the overall growth in Q3 towards commercial segment.”

Only Under One Percent of Indian Engineering students skilled in Secure Programming: EC-Council

 In what could be alarming news to the country’s corporate and defense establishments, global leader in InfoSec certifications and trainings, EC-Council revealed that less than 1% of Indian IT students have been found skilled in secure programming. This announcement is a revelation of the findings based on the report, ‘The Talent Crisis in InfoSec’ that was unveiled today by Mr. Jay Bavisi, President, EC- Council. 
 A mere 13% of engineering students were found to be trainable in the InfoSec domain with nearly 86% unskilled even on InfoSec basics.  Speaking on these findings, Jay Bavisi, President and Co-Founder, EC-Council said, “The world is recognizing vulnerabilities leading to cyber threats and attacks and India holds a key position in the global IT-ITeS map. India ranks third in Asia as home to the world’s Top500 Supercomputers

The 42nd worldwide edition of the Top500 Supercomputers list released revealed that 12 Supercomputers1 ranked in the Top500 list are housed in India and powered by Intel HPC technologies. Consequently, India is ranked third in Asia as home to the world’s Top500 Supercomputers with China taking the lead position with 65 Supercomputers and Japan at second place with 30 Supercomputers. Released biannually by TOP500, the ranking has elevated India to the global map in High Performance Computing (HPC) technology which is applied in data intensive environments like weather forecasting and seismic analysis. In 2012, only 6  Supercomputers powered by Intel HPC technologies from India made it to the Top500 list.

Steria and APD launch Contact Management Solution, SmartContact, for the Police


Steria and APD Communications have formed a unique partnership to develop a fully integrated, end-to-end contact management solution, SmartContact. Infineon unveils New Security Chip with Integrity Guard for Electronic Passports

Infineon Technologies introduced a new security controller for electronic passports (ePassports), featuring the industry's highest memory density and data processing rate. The new SLE78 with 'Integrity Guard' technology offers more than three times memory space for secure storage of personal and biometric data as well as for visas or entry and exit stamps which will also require on-chip storage in future ePassports. To be able to process immigration security checks as efficient as possible despite the increased amount of data the new security controller enables eight times faster read time by electronic scanners. To the benefit both travelers and airport operators, passport data can be read on average in less than one second by the contactless scanners at electronic airport checkpoints.

eAccessibility Workshop 2013 Organised by Directorate of IT, at Mumbai and Pune

Directorate of Information Technology (DIT), Government of Maharashtra, in association with Mahaonline Limited (MoL) and National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) has organized a workshop on eAccessibility on November 19-20, 2013 at Mumbai and Pune.

In this workshop, web designers and developers from various software companies, which are working on citizen-centric, high-traffic, high impact websites of various departments of Government of Maharashtra are invited. They are being taught about accessibility and try to make their websites compliant to WCAG 2.0 Level A. It may be noted that Maharashtra's egovernance policy 2011 specifies that websites/applications should be WCAG 2.0 Level A compliant.

62.9 million mobile handsets shipped in India during July-Sept 2013

According to CMR’s India Mobile Handsets Market Review, 3Q 2013, November 2013 release, India registered 62.9 million mobile handset shipments for the period July-September (3Q) 2013. During the same period, 11.1 million smartphones were shipped in the country.

Professional Cameras Market Slowly Hobbles with 2K and 4K

Despite being pulled down by rapidly falling prices, the mature global digital broadcast and cinematography camera market will see growth (though marginal). Expansion is driven by continued digitization and the launch of new channels world over, especially in high-definition (HD) and 4K, which requires high-resolution content. A new, free public version of Monotype's Typecast application can now be accessed through Google Fonts, helping users to create better quality Web typography.

SGI and Extreme Networks Partnership in the area of Big Data and Hadoop Solutions

Mindtree appoints Ramesh Pillai and Mark Wilsdon to its Leadership Team
