CA Technologies to Acquire Rally Software

CA Technologies announced it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Rally Software Development, a leading provider of Agile development software and services, for $19.50 per share, which equates to approximately $480 million, net of cash acquired. The transaction has been unanimously approved by both Boards of Directors, and is expected to close in the second quarter of CA’s fiscal 2016. Based in Boulder, CO, Rally has approximately 500 employees across four continents and FY 2015 sales of $88 million.

A Cyber-spy Tracking SMBs in India


Kaspersky Lab has recently discovered a new business-oriented cyber-spying campaign called Grabit that was able to steal about 10,000 files from small/medium-sized organizations based mostly in India, Thailand,  and the US. The list of target sectors includes chemicals, nanotechnology, education, agriculture, media, construction and more. Companies based in India and Thailand had the largest percentage of infected machines. By looking at the stolen credentials, it is very clear that employees sent the malware to one another, as stolen host names and internal applications are the same.

Worldwide Server Shipments Grew 13 Percent in the First Quarter of 2015: Gartner

In the first quarter of 2015, worldwide server shipments grew 13 percent year over year, while revenue increased 17.9 percent from the first quarter of 2014, according to Gartner. "The first quarter of 2015 was a particularly strong start to the year, with the strongest shipment growth since the third quarter of 2010, when the market was recovering from the downturn. It was also the second-largest-volume quarter ever," said Adrian O'Connell, research director at Gartner. "The market was driven by particularly strong demand from the hyperscale area, which benefited North America, in particular. This comes at a time when other regions are struggling, due to price pressure driven by the appreciation of the U.S. dollar. The strength in North America was strong enough to offset declines in Latin America and Japan. EMEA was barely positive, with 1 percent volume growth."

Over 30 scareware apps threatening Android users worldwide

Researchers from ESET, the global leader in proactive digital protection, have discovered more than 30 fake applications available for download on the Google Play Store. SMS spammers hide adult site URLs in YouTube videos: Report

SMS spammers are attempting to avoid URL filters by hiding links in YouTube videos. Symantec discovered this trend in a recent SMS spam campaign, which disguised the sender as a woman looking to date the message’s recipient. The message directed the user to a YouTube video, which asked them to “get verified” by visiting a link included in the video. However, this link instead led the user to an adult website. If the user signed up to the site, then their credit card would be charged with membership fees.
