IBM and HCL Technologies announced a strategic partnership to jointly build hybrid cloud solutions to help enterprises drive their digital transformations.
HCL will use Bluemix, IBM’s Cloud platform to build applications and solutions in the areas of Unified Service Management and Internet of Things (IoT). The Unified Service Management offering will help clients manage the most demanding and complex service delivery environments. The IoT solutions will enable clients to collect and exchange data from a network of physical objects embedded with electronics, software, sensors, and connectivity.
HCL will also use IBM Cloud’s Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), SoftLayer, to offer cloud-based solutions to its clients. HCL will be able to leverage the full-range of SoftLayer infrastructure services, including bare metal servers, virtual servers, storage, security services and networking in addressing the needs of their clients. Leveraging the HCL MyCloud and DryICE automation and orchestration platforms, HCL plans to offer highly scalable cloud environments, including IaaS solutions in dedicated, as well as shared models, for enterprise customers.
“The 21st Century enterprises are looking for highly flexible and scalable IT/technology solutions that enable them to compete amidst changing market dynamics and customer expectations. IBM’s cloud offerings are based on open platforms and provide enterprise grade security and reliability that are essential for our clients,” said Kalyan Kumar, Senior Vice President and Chief Technologist – ITO, HCL Technologies. “By combining IBM’s Bluemix and Softlayer platforms with HCL’s unique MyCloud orchestration platform and global system integration expertise we will be able to transform businesses through user centric applications on Bluemix which will enable enhanced customer engagement delivering efficiencies and tangible business outcomes.”
“Cloud has become the new normal in helping companies digitally transform their business operations.” said Robert LeBlanc, Senior Vice President, IBM Cloud. “It is imperative that enterprises adapt their strategies to align with this shift. As HCL gears its clients toward digital transformations, IBM Cloud will play an instrumental role as part of its open hybrid cloud technologies, solutions and services."
Bluemix, launched in 2014 with a $1 billion investment, has quickly risen to become one of the largest Cloud Foundry deployments in the world, providing a developer-friendly of more than 120 tools and software services that combines the most prominent open-source, IBM and third-party technologies.
HCL offers end-to-end cloud lifecycle management and orchestration platform to enterprises through HCL MyCloud to efficiently manage and control their hybrid cloud infrastructure. HCL Mycloud has an easy-to-use interface to help provision, monitor, manage infrastructure and enable metering and chargeback on the cloud.
